My name is Joanna Lyle, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) dedicated to helping individuals of all ages navigate life's challenges and discover their inner strength. I believe that true growth happens in a supportive and non-judgmental environment, where you can freely explore your experiences and discover new pathways forward. I graduated from Loyola College in Maryland in 2008 with my Masters in School Counseling, focusing on behavioral health for young children and their families. Since then, I have developed my toolbox to include working with school-aged children through adults facing anxiety, stress management, and self-esteem issues. My approach is primarily client-centered and integrates techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and mindfulness to help you identify unhelpful thought patterns, develop effective coping strategies, and build a stronger sense of self. I strive to create a collaborative space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to take meaningful steps toward your goals.
With my 17 years of experience working in both school and family settings, I have focused my energy into helping those with anxiety disorders, trauma related disorders, impulse control disorders and depressive disorders. This experience has equipped me with a diverse set of therapeutic resources of evidence-based strategies to help navigate academic and social pressures, foster healthy relationships, and cultivate a balanced life.
Outside of my practice, I enjoy spending time outdoors, traveling with friends and family, and exercising, which helps me stay grounded and connected to the present moment.
