My name is Jodie Clabaugh, LCSW-C, and I have 30 years of experience in the mental health field. I hold a Master of Social Work degree and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) and Licensed Clinical Drug and Alcohol Approved Supervisor. I have developed specialized experience working with individuals experiencing trauma, substance use concerns, and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
My approach to therapy is patient-centered, trauma-informed, and grounded in compassion, respect, and collaboration. I strive to create a comfortable, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where patients feel heard, understood, and valued. I believe therapy can help individuals increase self-awareness, develop healthy coping skills, strengthen relationships, and build confidence in their ability to manage life’s challenges.
I utilize evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, strengths-based therapy, psychoeducation, and supportive counseling. My work focuses on helping patients recognize unhelpful thought and behavior patterns, understand personal triggers, improve emotional regulation, develop healthier coping strategies, and build resilience. For individuals experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns, I take an integrated approach that addresses the connection between emotional distress, trauma, coping patterns, and substance use while supporting sustained recovery.
Throughout my career, I have learned that individuals often possess far more strength and resilience than they recognize. I believe that behavior is frequently connected to past experiences, pain, and unmet needs, and that meaningful change begins when people feel safe enough to be understood rather than judged. By building a strong therapeutic relationship and meeting each patient where they are, I work collaboratively to help individuals recognize their strengths, take an active role in treatment, and make meaningful and sustainable changes in their lives.
