Meets every Wednesday 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM
This group is designed for adults who want to change patterns that are no longer working and develop more effective ways of handling stress, emotions, and relationships.
The adult DBT skills group is designed for individuals between the ages of 26 and 35 who are managing the demands of adulthood, including career development, long-term relationships, parenting, financial responsibilities, and evolving personal identities. Participants often seek this group after recognizing that emotional reactivity, stress, or interpersonal patterns are interfering with their ability to function effectively or feel satisfied in their daily lives.
This group is appropriate for adults who experience chronic stress, emotional overwhelm, difficulty regulating mood, challenges in communication or boundary-setting, and patterns of coping that no longer serve them well. These difficulties can show up in the workplace, intimate relationships, family systems, and personal well-being. The DBT skills group provides structured, practical tools to help participants respond more skillfully to emotional challenges and build greater stability over time.
Participants are encouraged to see this group as a space for skill refinement and growth. The DBT skills taught are directly applicable to real-world adult responsibilities and are intended to support sustainable changes in how individuals manage emotions, relationships, and stress across multiple areas of life.
Group will be held in a rotating 12 week cycle.
All DBT skills groups at ElevateMind follow a structured, skills-based 12 week curriculum that emphasizes learning, practice, and application. Participants are taught core DBT skill areas, including:
Mindfulness: Developing awareness of thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations in order to respond more intentionally rather than reacting automatically.
Distress Tolerance: Building the ability to cope with intense emotions and stressful situations without making them worse through impulsive or harmful behaviors.
Emotion Regulation: Understanding emotions, reducing vulnerability to emotional overwhelm, and increasing the ability to manage emotional intensity.
Interpersonal Effectiveness: Learning skills to communicate needs, set boundaries, and maintain relationships while also respecting oneself and others.
Skills are introduced in a clear, step-by-step manner and reinforced through discussion, examples, and between-session practice. The emphasis is on practical use rather than theory alone.
