ElevateMind LLC is developing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills groups ranging from teens, young adults, and adults who experience intense emotions, difficulty coping with stress, and challenges in relationships, school, or work. These groups are structured, skills-focused, and practical, offering participants a 12 week curriculum on concrete tools they can use immediately in their daily lives. Our goal is to provide an accessible, supportive environment where individuals can learn skills that promote emotional regulation, resilience, and more effective communication, while also helping families and other systems better understand and support the individual’s growth.
DBT is an evidence-based treatment that was originally developed to help individuals manage overwhelming emotions and behavioral dysregulation. Over time, it has become widely used to support adolescents and young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, mood instability, impulsivity, interpersonal conflict, and difficulty tolerating distress. Our DBT skills groups focus on teaching these core skills in a structured, predictable format, while emphasizing practice, repetition, and real-world application.

This group helps teens learn how to manage big emotions, reduce conflict, and feel more in control of their reactions. Through practical DBT skills, adolescents gain tools to handle stress, frustration, and emotional intensity more effectively at school, at home, and with peers. Sara has been a certified DBT therapist for the past four years and has been practicing DBT for about eight years. She has run DBT groups in outpatient, partial, and inpatient settings, modifying the groups to the needs of the age group and population. She enjoys running groups for the collaboration that occurs both between the clients and the facilitator but also between the clients themselves.
ElevateMind LLC accepts a range of insurance plans for DBT skills groups, depending on participant age, coverage type, and clinical eligibility. Coverage for group therapy varies by insurance provider and individual plan, and not all plans cover group services in the same way. Our administrative team is available to help prospective participants and families understand their benefits, verify coverage, and clarify any anticipated out-of-pocket costs prior to enrollment.
Accepted Insurances:
For individuals who are not using insurance, self-pay options may be available. Payment expectations, fees, and billing questions can be reviewed during the intake process to ensure transparency and informed decision-making. We encourage anyone interested in a DBT skills group to reach out with questions about insurance or payment so that financial considerations do not become a barrier to accessing care.
DBT skills groups meet once per week for 1.5 hours. The full DBT skills curriculum is designed to be completed over approximately 12 weeks, allowing participants to learn and practice all core skill areas within a defined and manageable time commitment. Many families and participants appreciate that the group meets only once per week while still providing comprehensive skill coverage.
Groups utilize a rolling admissions model, meaning participants can join even if a group is already in progress. Skills are taught in repeating modules, and participants are not considered “behind” if they begin mid-cycle. This flexibility helps reduce barriers to entry and allows individuals to start receiving support without waiting for a new group to begin.
DBT skills are taught in modules that rotate throughout the year. Because these skills build upon one another and are revisited regularly, participants can enter the group at multiple points. Facilitators ensure that new members are oriented to the group structure and supported in understanding how skills fit together over time. This approach allows for continuity, flexibility, and timely access to care.
We recognize that group times do not always align with every individual’s schedule or availability. If someone is interested in learning DBT skills but is unable to participate in a group due to timing or logistical constraints, individual DBT-informed sessions may be an option.
Individuals can contact ElevateMind LLC to schedule individual sessions with Sara Powell M.S, C-DBT, LPC, where DBT skills can be taught and tailored to personal goals and circumstances. This option allows participants to receive the same core skills in a one-on-one format while maintaining flexibility in scheduling.
