Meets every Wednesday 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM
This group supports young adults who feel overwhelmed by emotions, relationships, or life transitions and want practical tools that actually work
The young adult DBT skills group is designed for individuals between the ages of 18 and 25 who are navigating the transition into adulthood. This may include college students, individuals entering the workforce, and young adults adjusting to increased independence and responsibility. Participants often report feeling overwhelmed by emotions, interpersonal conflict, academic or work-related stress, and the pressure to function independently while still developing effective coping strategies.
This group is well-suited for young adults who struggle with emotional regulation, impulsive decision-making, relationship difficulties, anxiety, or difficulty managing stress in work or academic environments. When left unaddressed, these difficulties can carry a significant cost, affecting job performance, academic success, relationships, and overall quality of life. The DBT skills group focuses on helping participants build skills that support emotional balance, clearer communication, and more intentional decision-making.
Young adults are encouraged to view this group as an investment in their long-term functioning. The skills taught are applicable across settings, including work, school, friendships, romantic relationships, and family interactions.
Group will be held in a rotating 12 week cycle.
All DBT skills groups at ElevateMind follow a structured, skills-based 12 week curriculum that emphasizes learning, practice, and application. Participants are taught core DBT skill areas, including:
Mindfulness: Developing awareness of thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations in order to respond more intentionally rather than reacting automatically.
Distress Tolerance: Building the ability to cope with intense emotions and stressful situations without making them worse through impulsive or harmful behaviors.
Emotion Regulation: Understanding emotions, reducing vulnerability to emotional overwhelm, and increasing the ability to manage emotional intensity.
Interpersonal Effectiveness: Learning skills to communicate needs, set boundaries, and maintain relationships while also respecting oneself and others.
Skills are introduced in a clear, step-by-step manner and reinforced through discussion, examples, and between-session practice. The emphasis is on practical use rather than theory alone.
